Jo Ann Ziegler Vaughn (Tulia)

Jo Ann Ziegler Vaughn, 80, of Tulia passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Stone, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Jo Ann was born on November 3, 1932 in Silverton, Texas to Joseph and Hattie Ziegler. She grew up in Silverton and graduated from Silverton High School in 1949. She attended West Texas State and received her degree in Education. She taught elementary education for 35 years for Tulia ISD before retiring. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tulia. She married Roy Wayne Vaughn, Sr. on December 13, 1950 in Clovis, N.M. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Riley Joe Ziegler; and one sister, Violet Ruth Thomas. She is survived by her husband Roy Vaughn of Tulia; two daughters, Vicki LaGrone and husband Mike of Amarillo, Dee Ann Mahaney and husband Randy of Tulia; one son, Wayne Vaughn and wife Anne of Bakersfield, CA; three sisters, Clara Bell McCain of Plainview, June Inez Gore of Tulia, Fay Marie Pointer of Quitaque; five grandchildren, Chris Mahaney and wife Carla of Plainview, Cory Mahaney and wife Myky of Keller, Whitney LaGrone of Dallas, Mark LaGrone of Dallas, Lisa Vaughn of Bakersfield, CA; and four great grandchildren.
