Jill Welch Ramsey (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-- Jill Welch Ramsey, 79, formerly of Tulia and Plainview, died on August 20, 2013 in Austin after a lengthy illness. She was born on August 22, 1933, in Colorado City, Texas, to L.H. and Beulah Welch. Jill graduated from Post High School in 1950 and Texas Tech in 1953. She was an elementary school teacher in Lubbock before marrying Elwood Ramsey on August 13, 1960. Jill then taught school for more than thirty years in Tulia. After her retirement, she moved to Plainview where she lived until recently. She was a lifelong Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and four siblings - L.H. Welch, Jr., Nathan Lee Welch, Aileen Siewert, and June Sales. Jill is survived by her son and his spouse, Kenneth and Kelly Ramsey of Pflugerville; grandchildren Erica, Taryn, and Ryan; sisters Twila Meador and Buena Adcock, both of the Ft. Worth area; a brother, Leslie Welch of Plainview; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia; a visitation will also be at Kornerstone from 6:00 - 7:30 on Friday evening, August 23, 2013.
