Irene G. Walker (Plainview)

Irene G. Walker, 70, of Plainview passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008 in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 2, 2008 in Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Ronny Hedges officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Walker was born January 3, 1938 in Natural Damn, Arkansas to W.M. and Lucille Burkett. She married Paul Walker on September 12, 1955 in Fort Worth. Mrs. Walker moved to Plainview in 1971. She worked for C.R. Anthony’s and retired from J.C. Penney in 2003. She was a tribal member of the Cherokee Nation of Talequah, Oklahoma and of The Primitive Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband: Paul Walker of Plainview; two sons: Lloyd Walker of Bronte and Warren “Paul” Walker & his wife Josie of Plainview; one nephew: Billy Burkett of Dallas; two brothers: Clarence Burkett of Deep Water, Missouri and David Burkett of Van Buren, Arkansas; two sisters: Billie Hill of Garland and Clarie Dodson of Van Buren, Arkansas; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
