Maria “Esperanza” DeLeon, 69, of Plainview, went to meet the Lord on Friday, May 2, 2008, in San Antonio, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Gary Burd, Conference Bishop of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church From Amarillo, Texas, officiating, assisted by Rev. Pedro Urrutia. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. There will be prayer services at the funeral home at 6:00 P.M. Monday and Tuesday, May 5th & 6th, with Rev. Pedro Urrutia officiating. Mrs. DeLeon was born on August 21, 1938, in Raymondville, Texas to Salvador and Julia Urrutia. She married Rodolfo DeLeon on March 13, 1956 in Raymondville. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2005. She worked at City National Bank. She was an ordained minister associated with the Great Plains Conference of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was Pastor of Betania Church. Esperanza was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include one daughter Sandra DeLeon of Plainview, four sons, Rudy DeLeon, III of San Antonio, Fred DeLeon of Plainview, Salvador DeLeon of Plainview and Richard DeLeon of Plainview, three brothers, L.G. Urrutia of Plainview, Rev. Pedro Urrutia of Lubbock and Rev. Ray Bustos of Plainview, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Salvador & Julia, her husband Rodolfo, a son Rudy DeLeon, Jr., two sisters and two brothers.
