Susan Meriwether Kuykendall (Plainview)

Susan Meriwether Kuykendall, of Lake Charles, LA passed away Monday, May 5, 2008 in Lake Charles. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 8, 2008 at First Christian Church with Dr. Max Browning officiating and Dr. Travis Hart assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. She married Rick Kuykendall on August 22, 1993. A native of Plainview, Susan was a retired teacher and her biography was listed in Who’s Who Among American Teachers. She had served as a sponsor of Yearbook, Danceline, Flagline, Beta Club and other organizations. Susan was a charter member of The American Federation of Teachers in Vernon and Calcasieu Parishes and was a charter board member of Calcasieu. She was a member of First Christian Church in Lake Charles and had served as Board Chairman, Sunday School teacher and Deaconess of First Christian Churches in Louisiana. She is survived by her husband: Rick Kuykendall of Lake Charles, LA; one brother: George Meriwether and wife Debbie of Plainview; one uncle: J.D. Sams and wife Frances of Plainview; one aunt: Lorane Meriwether of Plainview and two nephews: Thomas Meriwether and wife Alaina of Houston and Jay Meriwether of Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents G.T. Meriwether, Jr. and Doris Meriwether. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday from 9-11 a.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Memorials may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, ASPCA, Louisiana Boxer Rescue or church or charity of choice.
