Lorena Zoe Etter Dayton, 83, of Plainview died on Friday, September 6, 2013 in Plainview. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 9, 2013 in Plainview Cemetery. A memorial celebration will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 9, 2013 in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Marrow officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Dayton was born January 26, 1930 to Hugh Robert and Lucy May Etter. She married John Dayton on March 6, 1948. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1995. She began her retail career at the age of 14 at the Dixie Shop. Later she worked for Nan’s, Bud’s Furniture & Appliances, Ramsower’s Furniture and retired from Marse and Son as shoe buyer and sales person. Her theme throughout life was great customer service…with a smile! She was an avid dancer with the Lubbock and Plainview Senior Dance groups. One of her favorite events was always the student council and senior dances. She was known best for her happy, energetic, positive, and encouraging personality. There was no job too large to tackle if it was worthy and she always enjoyed telling a good joke and her smile was contagious, even to the end. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Virginia Etter Rech. She is survived by one son: John Dayton and wife Debby of Springlake; one daughter: Phyllis and husband Clinton of Plainview; four grandchildren: Carey Dayton of Lubbock, Chelsie Dayton of Lubbock, Aaron Wall of Plainview and Chrissa and husband Brandon Brotherton of Denton; six great-grandchildren: Dustin Dayton and Jennifer of Lubbock, Zachary Dayton and Adam Dayton of Lubbock, Mariah Dayton of Lubbock, Adelyn Brotherton and Dylan Brotherton of Denton and best friend: Robert Matthews of Plainview. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, First Baptist Church or Faith in Sharing House. Online condolences may be made at www.kornerstonefunerals.com
