Sharon Kay Clayton, 54, of Tulia, Texas passed away September 3, 2013, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene, Texas. She was born September 30, 1958 in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1977. She attended Texas Tech University. She was an administrative assistant for 25 years at Lakeview Gin in Tulia, Texas. Sharon loved animals; especially horses and her two dogs Duke and Sugar, and caring for others in the community. She enjoyed spending time outdoors in her garden, taking pictures of nature and riding motorcycles. Sharon was preceded in death by her brother Ralph E. Pope III. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Clayton; daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, Aubrey, Dallas, and Ethan Cypert; son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, Stephen, Christen, and Nickolas Compton; mother and stepdad, Beverly and Joe Kimbrough; father and step mother, Ralph and Mary Pope; brother, Ron Pope; sister and brother-in-law, nephew and niece, Susan, Jon, Jacob and Hannah Pate; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins. Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Tulia, Texas on Saturday September 14, 2013 at 10:00am. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene for their compassion and attentive care during Sharon’s final days.
