Dimmitt, Texas— Gladys Hampton, 98, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2005 at the Runningwater Draw Care Center in Olton. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, November 13, 2005 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Rhoads, pastor officiating. Burial will be at 4:30 pm Sunday in Littlefield Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Gladys was born December 29, 1906 in Brown Co., Texas. She moved to the Irick Community in Floyd Co. as a teenager and finished school there. She married John Earl Hampton on December 12, 1931 in Clovis, NM. They lived in Hale Co. until 1950 when they moved to Lamb Co. She worked for the Littlefield ISD as a cafeteria worker. They moved to Tucumcari, NM in 1960 where she started an Avon business. They moved to Earth, Texas in 1963. They moved to Brackettville in 1967 and returned to Earth in 1977 where she lived until she moved to Dimmitt in 1994. Mr. Hampton died in September 1989. She loved working outdoors, gardening, canning, handcrafts, quilting and fishing. Survivors include; one son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Jeanette Hampton of Dimmitt, Two daughters and sons-in-law; Twila and Darrell Sawyer of Springlake-Earth, Carolyn and Jerry Watts of Dimmitt., One Sister; Cleo Long of Plainview, Six grandchildren; Travis Hampton, Jr., Johnny Hampton, Tonya Ethridge, Cary Sawyer, Kim Pond and Jeff Watts. Eleven Great Grandchildren; Shane Ethridge, Mindi McLain, Jordan Hampton, Wil Pond, Daniel Pond, Brittany Hampton, Steffanee Pond, Kayla Watts, Nicole Hampton, Jeffrey Pond and Colby Watts.
