Byron Laney Robertson, 49, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack on Wednesday, May 28th, 2008. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview. The services will be presided over by Steve Stokes and Dr. Steve Turner. Burial will follow in Hale Center Cemetery under the di-rection of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. The pallbearers will be Kevin Belt, Rob Lindsey, Rod Ramsower, Clint Robinson, Kevin Thomas and John D. Walker. Byron was born in Plainview, Texas on Jan. 2, 1959 and remained an active community member there throughout his life. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1977. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agri-business from Abilene Christian University in 1981. He worked for Production Credit Association as a loan officer for 9 years and spent the last 14 years farming in Hale and Swisher counties. Byron was an active member of the ministry at the Garland Street Church of Christ and was particularly interested in mission work in Latin America. Byron had a group of very close friends with whom he enjoyed going on snowskiing and fishing trips or just talking about farming. He also had a keen grasp of mechanical things and an inventive mind which he often used to devise improvements to farm equipment or any other machines that caught his eye. He was a devoted son, brother and uncle. His loyal friendship, genuine smile, kind heart, and easy laugh will be missed by all who knew him. Byron is survived by his parents, Fred and Clara Robertson of Plainview, and his sister and brother-in-law Susan and Jerry Devine of Lubbock. His nephew is Kevin Robertson Devine of Lubbock.
