Billye Pelham Beats Roden, 90, of Austin, Texas, passed away November 20, 2013. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 25, 2013 at Kornerstone Chapel. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the funeral home. Billye was born April 25, 1923 in Denison, Texas and moved to Plainview with her parents, Roy C. Pelham & Mytrle Morris Pelham and her sisters Lee & Nita. She graduated from Plainview High School and then attended Lipperts Business College in Plainview. She then pursued a career as a Professional Bookkeeper where she was employed by several wonderful businesses, such as Stapleton Bros. Machinery, Bennet & Hill Feed Yard, Young Duds and her very favorite was Arts Printing. Some of her pleasures in life were painting and redecorating each October during deer hunting season because, for 2 weeks, she had the house to herself. She also loved shoe shopping, dancing & working in her yard. She was a 20 plus year cancer survivor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art W. Beats, and her husband, Sam H. Roden. She is survived by her son, George A. Beats of Austin, Texas; daughter & son-in-law, Jim & Kay Jackson of Manchaca, Texas; two granddaughters, Sonye Shield, spouse, Audie, Marcia Smith Anderson; one grandson, Dyson K. Smith and his wife, Christie; two sisters, Nita P. Finny & Lee P. Rowe and her husband, Charles; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Her family would like to thank Visiting Angels, Hospice, Dr. Allen Sonstein and all the wonderful people who helped.
