Tulia, Texas—Maxine Gardner, 90, died Monday, November 25, 2013 in Tulia. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in the Silverton Cemetery with Rev. Jason Stone, pastor of First Baptist Church, Tulia officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Maxine was born October 27, 1923 in Tulia to Ivar Westley and Mabel Viola Nuzum. She graduated from Crosbyton High School. She married Carlton Gardner on April 10, 1947 in Crosbyton. They lived in Tulia and she was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and also worked with her husband at State Cleaners for several years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tulia. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister: Ethel Aldridge. Her family includes her husband: Carlton Gardner of Tulia, one son and daughter-in-law: Kent and Gail Gardner of San Angelo, one granddaughter: Carla Arbuckle and her husband Tim of San Angelo and one nephew: Rick Aldridge and his wife Ernesteene of Tulia. Memorial may be made to the Silverton Cemetery.
