Jerry Stephen Morphis (Plainview)

Jerry Morphis, 62, of Plainview, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 in Plainview. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Harvest Christian Fellowship with Rev. Paul Cypert officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Jerry was born on May 4, 1951 in Pottsville, Arkansas to Kenneth and Ailene Morphis. He grew up in the Providence Community and graduated from Lockney High School. He then attended West Texas State University. He farmed for several years before going to work the Texas Department of Transportation and retiring in 2008. He then worked as the Hale County Emergency Management Coordinatior for 2 years. He was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship and Plainview Country Club. He loved to play golf and Bar-B-Q in their backyard. He married Debbie Hawkins on July 15, 1976 in Plainview. Survivors include his wife, Debbie Morphis of Plainview; one daughter, Tonya Jane Sutton of Midland; three sons, Dustin Chadd Morphis of Clyde, Anthony Chad Morphis of Amarillo, Jeremy Steven Morphis of Plainview; one sister, Glenda Lee Atkinson of Nacona; four brothers, Loyd Morphis of Plainview, Phillip Bruce Morphis of Kress, Kenneth Joe Morphis of Edmonson, Ray Lynn Morphis of Plainview; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
