Dorma Neel 74, of Hale Center, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Hale Center, Texas with Rev. Carrol Green officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview, Texas. Dorma was born on January 6, 1934 to Dorman and Eugenia Clanton in Plainview. She grew up in Plainview and in Channing and graduated from Channing High School. She attended West Texas State University. She worked in Amarillo before marrying John Hazel. They moved to Plainview in 1963. John preceded her in death in 1976. She then married Coney Neel on July 12, 1981 in Plainview. She worked for the Hale County Sheriff’s Dept. and was instrumental in the formation of the 911 Emergency System in Hale County. She retired in 1998. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hale Center and a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband Coney Neel of Hale Center; two daughters, Sheryl Cummings and husband Larry of Plainview, Cindy Borchardt of Plainview; one son, Jerry Hazel and wife Kaylene of Plainview; one step-son, Rex Neel of Granbury; 11 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild. A visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
