Abel Basaldua(Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Abel Basaldua, Sr., 68, died Monday, June 16, 2008 in Tulia. A rosary services will be held at 7:00pm Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel and a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit in Tulia with Father Fernando Ruga officiating. . Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mr. Basaldua was born February 22, 1940 in Mission, Texas. He moved to Tulia in 1952 and was a farm laborer. He married Anita Cruz on February 8, 1958. She died June 7, 1995. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Survivors include two daughters; Rosalinda Subealdea of Tulia and Delia Basaldua of Plainview, two step-daughters; Olivia Contreras and Dora Salazar, both of Tulia, four sons; Abel Basaldua, Jr. and Enrique Basaldua, both of Tulia, Roger Basaldua and Martin Basaldua, both of Midland, six sisters; Juanita Garcia of Nebraska, Trinidad Granado of Dumas, Elva Reyna of Lubbock, Emma Garcia of Spearman, Janie Hinejosa and Maria Macias, both of Tulia, 27 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.
