Glen Preston Steen, 71, of Plainview, passed away at 5:05 p.m. Thursday, November 24, 2005 at Prairie House Living Center. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2005 at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor and Rev. Jack Albright, a retired minister, officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Preston was born November 23, 1934 in a half dugout around Quemado, New Mexico where his parents William Howard Steen and Henrietta Garrison Steen along with his grandparents John Monroe Garrison and Lillia Day Garrison and Uncle an Aunt, Arthur Preston Garrison and Anna Stone Garrison were homesteading. Preston and his family moved to Hayden, New Mexico and later on to the area around Amistad, New Mexico where they farmed and ranched. Preston attended Amistad schools through his junior year then graduated from Clayton High School in Clayton, New Mexico. In 1954 he and his family moved to Hale County and farmed and ranched in the Happy Union area. He continued to farm and semi-retired two years ago. He had a love for his family, the land and his cattle, and also of his fellow man. He celebrated his 71st birthday on Wedensday. He married Sylvia A. King Albright on December 26, 1959 in Plainvew. He is survived by his wife; sons, Stephen Glen Steen and wife Laura of Plainview, Michael Lynn Steen and wife Mary of Plano; grandchildren, Skyler Glen Steen, Spencer Glen Steen, Ryan Shuerger, Kyle Shuerger, Elizabeth Jones all of Plainview and the twin grandsons John Morgan Steen, William Gregory Steen of Plano; brother, Earl Weston Steen and wife Jeanette of Hale Center, sister Carolyn Kay Smith and husband J. Bassett Smith of Lubbock; nephews, Kevin Mark Steen and his children of Houston, Shane Steen of Plainview, J. J. Smith of New Orleans, Louisiana, Gregg Albright of California; nieces, Kathy Merriweather and daughter of Kansas, and Leslie N. Smith of Plainview, Numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
