Mike Whittacre, 60, of Lubbock passed away on January 7, 2014 in Lubbock. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, January 10, 2014 in Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Mr. Oscar Chavez, Chaplain of Area Community Hospice officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held at 2:00 P.M. until service time at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mike was born on February 14, 1953 to Lloyd and Frances Whittacre in Levenworth, Kansas. He attended schools in California. He was a Rodeo Clown for many years. He worked for the Tye Company for several years. He owned and operated Hopkins County Fire Extinguisher in Sulphur Springs for many years. He was a member of The Way Church in Sulphur Springs. He just loved his kids and grandchildren. He married Anita Faulks Kernell on Sept. 2, 2006 in Sulphur Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronnie Whittacre. He is survived by his wife, Anita Whittacre of Lubbock; one daughter, Lorie Whittacre of Overland Park, Kansas; two step-sons, Corey Kernell and wife Stephanie of Lubbock, Kyle Kernell of College Station; two grandchildren, Joey Whittacre and Elijah Mathis both of Overland Park, Kansas; two step-granddaughters, Brooke Kernell and Zoe Blake of Lubbock; one brother, David Whittacre of New York; three brothers-in-law, Randy Faulks and wife Linda of Sulphur Springs, Weldon Faulks and wife Kay of Sulpur Springs, Mike Faulks and wife Ruth of Sherman; and Little Britches on the way.
