Reuben G. White (Plainview)

Reuben G. White, 93, of Plainview, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Prairie House Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev Don Robertson of College Heights Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. White was born on September 10, 1914 in Detroit, Texas. He moved from Red River County in 1920 to Plainview and farmed and ranched until WWII. He worked for Pantex in Amarillo during the war years. Reuben married Jimmie Mae McCaffree on April 15, 1939. Jimmie passed away on March 30, 1989. He also had a daughter, Linda Sue White, who also passed away February 27, 1945. In 1944 he started working as a building contractor with Raymond Jamison Construction and was there for 25 years. In 1969 White, Belk, Cook Construction Company was formed and he took part in that company until he retired in 1976. Reuben was a charter member of Plainview Bass Club and a member of College Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his son R. Mack White and his wife Cecilia Ann of Plainview; a sister Betty Jo Steddum of Gun Barrel City; two grandchildren Robert M. White of Matador, Cathy Ann Widener of Plainview; a great granddaughter Keeley Dawn Obenhaus and her husband Lance of Plainview; a great great grandson Landon Keith Obenhaus of Plainview.
