David Wells Formby (Plainview)

DAVID WELLS “HIPSHOT” FORMBY, 56, of Plainview went to join his Heavenly Father on January 15, 2014. David was the son of the late Marshall and Sharleen Formby of Plainview. David was one of those unique people who never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back. The greatest loves in his life were his family, his yellow lab dog, Birdie, his mixed mutt Rascal, and his Harley Davidson motorcycles. And David would not have been David without all the pratical joke he played on his family and friends. David was born December 10, 1957 and raised in Plainview. One of his proudest accomplishments was attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in 1975. He was a 1976 graduate of Plainview High School and went on to try many things in his life; Driving a truck, becoming a gunsmith, working on his Harley's and going to rally's when time and distance allowed. David was married on April 16, 2011 to Denise Wright. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2012. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Services will be conducted at Kornerstone Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. Dennis Hartley of Dare to Believe Minisitries in Plainview will be the officiant. Interment will be in Houchin Family Cemetery located in the Happy Union Community south of Plainview under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Survivors include his daughter Mandy Lee Formby Wilkinson of the home; his sister Frances Formby Seales of Lubbock; his Step-Daughter Terri Dawn Broadus in New Deal; 11 step grandchildren; two sister-in laws Carmen Darnell of Wilson, Oklahoma and Shelly Dunn of San Leon, Texas; numerous cousins and former wife Tammy Schank of Plainview. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3513 10th St., Lubbock, Texas 79415.
