Tulia, Texas— Juan Santana Alvarez “Lagrima”, 83, died Monday, February 3, 2014 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 6, 2014 in the Kornerstone Funeral Chapel with Pastora Patricia Villalobos officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Juan was born August 15, 1930 in Harlingen, Texas to Juan and Basilia Alvarez. He married Castula Alvarez in August 1958. He worked for North Plains Compress as a fork lift operator in Tulia for 30 years. He has lived in Tulia since 1967. He was the best, kind hearted, loving father, husband, grandfather, father-in-law, brother and uncle. Juan was the greatest man and loved his grandkids dearly and he did not say anything bad about anyone. He is survived by his wife: Castula Alvarez of Tulia, his children: Irma Scheffer of Amarillo, Joe Alvarez and wife Lydia of Amarillo, Ortencia Valdiviezo and husband Jose of Amarillo and Juan Alvarez, III and wife Linda of Fort Wayne, Indiana, two sisters: Maxinema Sosa and Delores De La Fuente both of Brownsville, Texas, thirteen grandchildren: Vanessa Scheffer, Billy Joe Alvarez, Frankie Alvarez, Brenda Alvarez, Juan Santiago Alvarez, David Alvarez, Matteo Alvarez, Joey Alvarez, Amos Alvarez, Eric Ramirez, Israel Ramirez, Toni Walker and Rosie Rosales and numerous great grandchildren.
