Jackie Parker (Plainview)

Jackie Parker, 72, of Plainview, fell asleep in the arms of the Lord on Saturday, June 28, 2008, in Plainview, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart officiating, assisted by Rev. Duane McClure of Bonita Baptist Church of Nocona. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. There will be a visitation from 5-7 P.M. on Monday, June 30, 2008, at the funeral home. Mr. Parker was born on October 8, 1935, in Kennefic, Oklahoma to Joseph D. “Jack” and Minnie Hardage Parker. He grew up in Caddo, OK and Vernon, TX. He graduated from Northside High School in Vernon in 1953 and moved to Lubbock in 1954. He married Margaret Isaacs at First Baptist Church of New Deal on November 24, 1956. He was employed by Bob’s Farm Store, Sun-Vue Fertilizer, and Gold Kist Chemical from 1962 until retirement in 2000. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Farmers Sunday School Class. He had also been a member of the Plainview Rodeo Association and participated in the Pony Express competition and in the city league softball and volleyball. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Margaret Parker of Plainview, three daughters, Amanda Leigh McCrary & husband Garry of Amarillo, Sandra Lynn Hancock of Plainview and Patti Ann Clark & husband Terry of Plainview, three brothers, R.D. Parker of Durant, OK, Floyd Parker of Chandler, AZ and Dan Parker of Lubbock, five sisters, Sylvia Label of Polluck Pines, CA, Clora Hudman of Paradise, CA, Betty Seilhan of Waco, NB, Georgia Whitworth of Sapulpa, OK and Lucille O’Brient of Tavares, FL, five grandchildren, Rebecca Brook House & husband Chad of Amarillo, Robin Michelle Flores & husband Bobby of Amarillo, Whitney Nicole Bain of Plainview, PFC Trevor Gilbert & wife Brittni of Camp Pendelton, CA and Trace Gilbert of Plainview and three great grandchildren, Birkleigh House of Amarillo, Angela Flores of Amarillo and Payton Gilbert of Camp Pendelton, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jay Parker and Monroe Parker. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Youth, 205 W. 8th, Plainview, TX 79072 or to Area Community Hospice, 3109 Olton Rd. Ste. C, Plainview, TX 79072. .
