Tulia, Texas— Antonio Gitan Herrera , 85, died Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Church of the Comforter with Pastor Gilbert Del Toro officiating. A viewing will be held at 6:00 pm Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Antonio was born July 6, 1928 in Hondo, Texas to Marillio and Eaustacia Hererra. He lived in Post, Texas for ten years and later moved to Tulia for most of his life and worked as a laborer. He later moved to Happy, Texas in the late 1970’s and then moved in with his brother Isaac Herrera in 1982 in Amarillo, Texas. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and was a great Christian who served God all of his life. He loved watching sports and his favorite team was the Denver Broncos. He is preceded in death by two brothers: Inez Herrera and Jesse Herrera and two sisters: Frances Herrera and Delores Herrera. He is survived by four brothers: Juan Herrera of Phoenix, Arizona, Santos Herrera of Lubbock, Texas, Isaac Herrera and Billie Rosas both of Amarillo, Texas, three sisters: Grace Perez of Post, Texas, Judy Lopez of Tulia, Texas and Ester Quintanilla of Canyon, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
