Tulia, Texas—Delbert Hundley, 84, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in Claude. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ernie McGaughey officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Charles Delbert Hundley was born on November 17, 1929 in Claude, Texas to Jess and Ruth Hundley. He attended grade school in the Lakeview Community and was raised on the family farm. He rode on horseback to school every day. His love for horses and animals began at this time. He graduated from Claude High School in 1947. He left for the service on January 25, 1951 with a cousin for training for the Korean War at Ft. Chaffey, Arkansas. In 1953 he returned to Tulia and worked for Dr. Cross, veterinarian in Tulia for many years. He worked at the Tulia Feed Lot doctoring cattle in pens. He was a cattle buyer for several ranches in the area as well. He married Betty Bell on October 6, 1956 in Tulia. Some of the Hundley family’s happiest times were with the Swisher County Sheriff’s Posse, riding in rodeo grand entries and parades and enjoying and participating in roping events. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tulia. Betty passed away on November 16, 2010 in Tulia. He then moved back to Claude to live with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one sister: Bennye Klier. He is survived by his daughter: Brenda Hundley of Lubbock, his son: Mark Hundley of Muskogee, OK, his brother: Wildon (Warty) Hundley of Claude, his sisters: Nelda Stephenson of Claude, Donna Bartley of New Bern, NC and Nancy Moore of Amistad, NM, a sister-in-law: Lois Ruble of Taloga, OK and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
