Silverton, Texas— Luree Burson, 96, died Friday, July 11, 2008 in Olton. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Silverton Cemetery in Silverton with Rev. Les Reed, pastor of First Baptist Church Silverton officiating. Burial is in Silverton Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Ms. Burson was born January 3, 1912 on her parent’s ranch at Silverton. She attended and graduated from Clarendon High School. She graduated from Wayland Baptist College. She then graduated from North Texas State Teachers College in Denton with a Masters of English Degree. She furthered her education with a Library Science Degree from Boulder, Colorado. She was a Librarian in the public school system throughout the Panhandle most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Silverton and attended faithfully until her health failed. She is survived by a sister-in-law; Dean Burson of Silverton, nieces and nephews; John Burson of Roswell, NM, Jimmy Burson of Silverton, John Arthur Arnold of Keller, Fred Arnold of Silverton, Walter Arnold of Silverton, Marsha Woodside of Costa Mesa, California and JoAnn Paige of Costa Mesa, California, several great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
