Tulia, Texas—Lila Beth Tennison, 84, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in Dalhart, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 14, 2014 in the First United Methodist Church of Tulia with Rev. Donna Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens in Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia, Texas. Lila Beth was born December 1, 1929 in Canton, Texas to John Howard Lewellyn and Lila Mae Jacobs. She was married to Roscoe Floyd Tennison for fifty-two years. He preceded her in death in 1999. She was a housewife all her life and enjoyed life with a grateful heart. She loved to paint, sew and especially making quilts for her family. Lila Beth won the blue ribbon at the Tri-State Fair for her Rose Quilt. She enjoyed her family reunions and loved her trip to Alaska. She was seventy-two years old when she got her driver’s license. Lila Beth loved Jesus with all her heart, served Him and others joyfully, and is now with Him. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: John Robert Lewellyn, Joseph Cirby Lewellyn and William Howard Lewellyn. She is survived by her daughter: Kathy Vaughn and husband Kelly of Tulia, three sons: Floyd Leeman Tennison of Borger, Randall Howard Tennison and wife Brenda of Amarillo and Robert Dale Tennison of Amarillo, two brothers: John Howard “Loyce” Lewellyn of Canton, Jacob Overby Lewellyn of Athens, one sister: Betty Jo Barenscheer of Tulia, twelve grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Tulia.
