Bill Jernigan (Plainview)

Bill Jernigan, 82, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at BSA Hospice in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 17, 2014 in Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Jernigan was born on January 9, 1932 to Joel & Ila Menasco Jernigan in Wichita Falls, Texas. He married Evelyn Burch on February 9, 1955 in Clovis N.M. Mr. Jernigan was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a medic in the Korean War. He graduated Barber School in 1959. Mr. Jernigan was a truck driver most of his working years. He was a loving husband and father who expressed his love for his family in many unselfish ways. He always tried to teach everybody something whether great or small. Mr. Jernigan is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Jernigan of Plainview; his daughter: Lisa Jernigan Graham & husband Kenneth of Amarillo; his son: Eric Jernigan & wife Cindy of Afton; two brothers: Clif Jernigan & wife Nelda of Plainview and Shannon Jernigan & wife Elsa of El Paso; three sisters: Matline Chumley of El Paso, Sue Skinner of Owasso, OK and Tamsey Schlegel of Archer City; two grandsons: Grayson Graham and Jordan Jernigan and two step grandchildren: April Fortenberry and Michael Fortenberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Robert & Leo Jernigan and one sister Mae Menasco.
