Manuel Cortez Moreno (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Manuel Cortez Moreno, 59, died Monday, March 31, 2014 in Tulia. His funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm Friday, April 4, 2014 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor Jose Moncayo officiating. Manuel was born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico on April 18, 1955 to Telensforo Cortez and Leonor Moreno. He married Maria Elena Cortez in 1994 in Mexicali, Mexico. They soon moved to Tulia in 1998 and spent most of their lifes here. He enjoyed doing mechanic work and also doing farm work. He was a great cook and one of his hobbies was to watch soccer. Manuel had a soccer team in Mexico with his brother. His favorite soccer team was the Chivas de Guadalajara. Manuel assisted at the Iglesia Renovation in Amarillo. He was a great cook and a loving husband, father, uncle and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Jesus Cortez and one sister; Mercedes Cortez. He is survived by his wife; Maria Elena Cortez, two sons; Francisco Medina and Manuel Cortez, Jr., his brothers and sisters; Guadalupe Cortez, Clara Cortez, Teresa Cortez, Eduvigues Cortez, Sofia Cortez, Josefina Cortez and Isabel Cortez.
