Norman Glynn Phillips, 90, of Plainview passed away on April 1, 2014 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 3, 2014 in the Kornerstone Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ron Brunson officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Glynn was born on December 8, 1923 in Kerens, Texas to Orban and Lovey Phillips. He attended school and graduated from Amherst High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he farmed and then worked for the Post Office for several years. He also drove a Taxi cab for a while. He went to work for Ring Around and worked in Seed Research for 20 years before retiring. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the VFW, and he was a Baptist. Glynn was preceded in death by Vera Phillips and Wilma Phillips and two children, Sharon Phillips and Ronnie Phillips. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Crosby and husband DeWitt of Plainview, Karen Hutson and husband David of Dimmitt; one son, Joseph Phillips of Carrollton; step-children, Dr. Derrell Monday of Vernon, Travis Monday of San Angelo, Teressa Oldfather of Lincoln, NE; three grandchildren and one great grandchild and many step grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Hale County Senior Citizens, 1107 Smythe, Plainview, Texas 79072.
