Ada Grace Alexander, 94, of Plainview passed away on May 2, 2014 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. John Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Grace was born on January 26, 1920 in Panhandle, Texas to Frank and Bernice Alexander. Her family moved to Plainview when she was less than a year old so her father could attend Wayland Baptist University. She began to work at Vanderpool’s Jewelry when she was 23 years old and worked for three generations of Vanderpool’s. She tried to retire in 1985 when the store closed but grew restless and went to work at Nature’s Way unit 1998. Then the following year she went to work at V’s Jewelry. She never stayed still for very long even volunteering with different organizations. Grace was the first volunteer with Area Community Hospice and was awarded the first Volunteer of the Year Award in 2005. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years. Grace was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Roswell, Ed, and Woody Alexander. She is survived by her Nephew, Bryan Knowles of Oklahoma; friends, Richard and Lydia Gaitan of Plainview; and other friends and acquaintances.
