Randy Morton, 64, of Plainview passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Sethward Baptist Church with Rev. Ty Williams officiating and Mr. David Pollard assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, May 6, 2014 from 5 to 6:30 P.M. Randy was born on April 11, 1950 in Smithville, Oklahoma. He grew up in Edmonson and graduated from Plainview High School in 1969. He enlisted into the U.S. Army and served for 3 years. He returned home and attended Wayland Baptist University. He worked at Piggly Wiggly, Mr. Burger, and Armour Beef. He moved to California in 1982 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until 1989. He moved back to Plainview in 1989. He married Rhonda Haarmeyer on June 4, 1992. He worked for Wal-Mart for many years as a Sales Associate. He loved his family, reading, music, and writing poetry. He also loved to talk about cars and spend time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Sethward Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Morton of Plainview; three daughters, Kristal Daniel (Derrick) , Kayla Beasley (Ty), Karla Morton all of Plainview; two sisters, Marsha Vail of Edmonson, Cindy Chapman of Hale Center; three biological siblings, Patsy Burger of Winslow, Arizona, June Dodd of Grapevine, Texas, Kenneth Shelley of Virginia; two grandchildren, Tyra Daniel and Aerin Morton of Plainview; and several nieces and nephews. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to Seth Ward Baptist Church or Gideons International.
