Tulia, Texas— Lonnie D. Jobe, 79, died Friday, August 8, 2008 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Eddy Helms and Rev. James Sain officiating. Lonnie was born October 24, 1928 in Hart, Texas to Morris and Ruth (Smoot) Jobe. He grew up and attended schools there. He worked as a carpenter with his dad before joining the US Air Force where he served in Korea from 1949 to 1953. He married Anita Caire on May 9, 1953 in Sacramento, California. They returned to Tulia and he worked in the parts department at the Ford House for a few years and then he worked for Roll-a-Cone as a machinist for over 20 years. He then worked for Wes’ Specialty Shop for a number of years. He was a longtime member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Most importantly Lonnie was a devoted Christian man who loved his family and loved his Lord. Survivors include his wife; Anita Jobe of Tulia, two daughters; Velaunda Nobile of Amarillo and Teresa Wethington and husband Tommy of Nazareth, two sons; Allen Jobe and wife Bonnie of Amarillo and Steven Jobe of Tulia, one brother; M.H. Jobe of Paris, Texas; three sisters; Peggy Faultner of Lubbock, Marilyn Kinnaird of Seymour, Tennessee and Marietta Blackwell of Colleyville, Texas, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death his parents and two sons-in-law; David Nobile and Johnny Gayler. Memorials may be made to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79106.
