Rachel Patterson Hinch, 87, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Covenant Hospital in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the Family Life Chapel of the First Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Coates officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 15, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Rachel was born on July 31, 1921 in Merkel, Texas to Homer and Lola Mae Patterson. She grew up in Merkel and graduated from high school there. She attended Texas Tech University. She moved from Odessa to Hobbs in 1962 and then to Plainview in 1983. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Leota Hargrove Sunday School Class, Reapers Bible Class, Travel Study Club, Women’s Club, Questers Study Club, and was involved in the Hospital Auxiliary for over 50 years. She married Kemp Henry Hinch in 1941 in Seminole, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Henry Hinch; and a brother, Jack Patterson. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kemp and Jodie Hinch of Plainview, Texas; two grandchildren, Kimberly Perez of Borger, Texas, Kemp Shawn Hinch of Amarillo, Texas; and six great grandchildren.
