Reva Lou Grisham, 97, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Tim Marrow officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Grisham was born on October 2, 1916 in Hamilton, Texas to Clarence & Beulah Goar. She married J.C. Grisham on September 7, 1941 in Hamilton, Texas. Reva loved the Lord with all her heart and life. She also loved God’s Word and taught Sunday School for over 60 years. When her children were being raised they went to Edmonson First Baptist Church every Sunday for worship. She also read them the Bible and prayed for them daily. Reva and J.C. made sure they knew the Bible by taking their children to Sunday school every week. She also enrolled all four of her children in the Bible Memory Association and they learned twelve verses each week for twelve weeks each summer. No matter the weather Mr. & Mrs. Grisham drove six miles to church, often their car was the muddiest vehicle in the parking lot. Reva also taught Vacation Bible School each summer. Reva also loved to grow a large garden and canning/freezing fruits and vegetables. She drove a tractor when needed, hoed weeds and planted flowers. During the school year she often drove twenty miles to Plainview to have a conference with a teacher or to be with her children in school activities, special days and occasions. Her children were taught to always respect their teachers and be kind to friends. Mrs. Grisham loved life on the farm, was a faithful wife and loving mother. When her husband and children were working or plowing, she would always go outside and wave a white kitchen towel to signify “come home – lunch is prepared” but this time the Lord Jesus robed in white splendor called out “Come home Reva! I’ve prepared a place for you! Jim is here, and Lana and many loved ones and friends! Your place is ready! Come on home!” Reva Lou Grisham went quietly, softly, readily and joyful to Heaven! “Thanks Mom, Thanks MeMe for all your love, prayers and examples for all of us!” Mrs. Grisham is survived by one daughter: Jeanine Oraivej & husband No’man of Corona, California; two sons: Dale Grisham of Plainview and Richard Grisham & wife Velma of Roswell, New Mexico; son-in-law: Rodney Watson of Plainview; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and an infant child: Richard Clarence Grisham and one daughter: Lana Watson. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Mission Fund
