Tulia, Texas—James Edward Witt Sr., 62 of Tulia, died Monday July 14, 2014 in Lubbock. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, July 18, 2014 in the Kornerstone Chapel with Dr. Kim Pond officiating under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Director of Tulia. James was born June 11, 1952 in Cambria, Virginia to Rufus and Jean Witt. He married Gail Witt in Plainview, Texas on September 18, 2004. He went to school in Christiansburg, Virginia. He was retired from the U.S. Army for 20 years as a first sergeant serving in Desert Storm. He worked 21 years at the State of Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling to see new places as well as enjoyed his family. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Rufus Burnett Witt Jr., and 2 sisters, Patricia Cooper and Sue Robertson. He is survived by his wife: Gail Witt of Tulia, TX; two daughters: Angel Mae Turner and husband Keith of Christiansburg VA; Debby Miller and husband Kyle of Kerrville, TX; two sons: James Edward Witt II of Christiansburg, VA; James Daniel Witt and wife Christina of El Paso, TX; a step-son: Ryan Lynn Isbell of Yorktown Heights, NY; his mother-in-law: Dolois Palmer (Melbie) of Tulia, TX; eleven grandchildren: Daniel Smith, Nathaniel Smith, Michael Witt, Holly Witt, Abby Witt, Alex Witt, Lysse Miller, Jackson Miller, Emily Witt, Jasmin Witt, Robert Vergara and many nieces and nephews.
