Lela Mays Meharg (Plainview)

Lela Mays Meharg, 99, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Meharg was born on June 4, 1915 in Dallas County, Texas to Jep & Sally Mays. She married Clee Meharg in 1937 in Tulia, Texas. Mrs. Meharg resided in Plainview for 41 years and was a beautician at Owens Beauty Shop for 15 years. She was a member of the Bridge Club, Study Club and the Methodist Church. Mrs. Meharg is survived by two sons: Clelan Meharg of Hemet, California and Milton Meharg & wife Cindi of Fruita, Colorado; two sisters: twin sister, Lena Maxey of Amarillo and Geraldyne Scott of Hereford; three granddaughters: Michelle Anderson, Tammy Jordan and Nicki Meharg and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and three brothers. Memorials may be made to Hope West Hospice in Grand Junction, Colorado.
