Manuel Hernandez(Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Manuel R. Hernandez, 91, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2008 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. He was born and raised in Lockhart. He married Alfonza Lara on Feb. 20, 1950 in Eagle Pass. They moved to the Lockney area where he farmed and moved to Tulia in 1951 and farmed. He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit. Survivors include his wife; Alfonza Hernandez of Tulia, two daughters; Maria Avila and husband Valentine Ramirez of Tulia and Tina Hernandez of Tulia and three sons; Joe Hernandez and wife Emma of Tulia, Juan Hernandez of Tulia and Phillip Hernandez of Tulia, seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one daughter; Carmen Hernandez.
