Tulia, Texas—Ishmael (Ismo) Cruz, 59, died Saturday, August 9, 2014 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Marco Gonzalez officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Ismo was born July 23, 1955 in Tulia to Henry and Beatrice Cruz, Sr. He grew up in Tulia and attended Tulia schools. He farmed for Gene Latham at Vigo Park for 32 years and volunteered for the fire department at Vigo Park. He married Debra Frausto on January 24, 1999 in Tulia. In 2010 he went to work at TXDOT. He enjoyed riding horses, dancing and farming. Ishmael was a hard worker in everything he did. He is preceded in death by his two brothers: Carlos Cruz and Paul Cruz. He is survived by his wife: Debra Cruz of Tulia, his parents: Henry and Beatrice Cruz, Sr. of Tulia, three daughters: Micaela Cruz of Tulia, Ana Marie Cruz and Mia Cruz both of Lubbock, two sons: Jonathan Garza of Tulia and Michael Garza and wife Shadee of Tulia, two brothers: Henry Cruz, Jr. and wife Wendy of Tulia and Fernando Cruz and wife Vickie of Kress, three sisters: Diana Ramos and husband Joel of Canyon, Mary Galan and husband Tino of Tulia and Ilda Galan and husband Oscar of Tulia, six grandchildren and one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
