Tulia, Texas--Anna (Ruth) Young Childers was born on November 19, 1925. She entered Heaven’s gates on August 13, 2014. A consummate mother and homemaker, Ruth was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Ruth was an outstanding basketball and softball player in her youth at Samnorwood. She loved to watch all sports on TV and attend the local games when she could. Ruth had an unwavering faith in God. She was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church which she attended in 1952. Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband, William (Bill) Virgil Childers 5/03/1993. She was also predeceased by her son Lynn Childers 10/12/2012. She was predeceased by her three brothers: Johnny Cope Young, Charles young, Glenn Young and one sister who was also predeceased: Jeanette Jones. Ruth is survived her son Don and his wife Marcia of Dallas, son Joe and wife Kay of Round Rock. Her two brothers: Dale young and wife Sonia of Dumas, Joel Dean Young and wife Iwana of Amarillo, one sister: Ronetta Miller of Amarillo, She is also survived by five grandchildren, Donnie , Rick, Chris, Stephen, Childers and Mendie Rafani. She had several great grandchildren. Her daughter in-law, Joyce Childers lovingly cared for her the last few years in her life in the nursing home. The family gives her and everyone else who cared for Ruth their greatest gratitude. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Eddy Helms officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Be still and know that I am God.
