Jerry Schinkus (Plainview)

Jerry Schinkus, 71, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, August 14, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Jerry was born December 13, 1942 in Madison County Nebraska to Paul and Ruby Schinkus. He married the love of his life, Twila Brown on June 9, 1963. They were married for 51 wonderful years. They were blessed with 3 children. He brought his family to Texas in 1972. He was owner/operator of Jerry’s Automotive in Dimmitt, TX for 22 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Central Plains Sams. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Twila Schinkus of the home, his children Sandra and John Craig of Amarillo, Michael and Janelle Schinkus of Breckenridge, Brenda and Andy McDowell of Wichita Falls, Two brothers Ron and Shirley Schinkus of Juniata NE and Don Schinkus of Lincoln NE, 6 grandchildren: Jonathan Craig, April Brendle, Erin Shack, Kendra Alverson, Kelsey and Kazdy McDowell, and 6 great grandchildren.
