Tulia, Texas—Quata Patton, 85, died Friday, August 22, 2014 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, August 25, 2014 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Mr. Howard Patton officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Quata was born on September 29, 1928 in Levelland, TX to J.C. and Elsie Mae Cunningham. She grew up in Levelland and graduated from high school in 1946. She attended West Texas State University in Canyon for one year. She married Kenneth Patton on May 15, 1947 in Canyon. She has lived in Tulia since 1954. She was baptized into the Lord's church as a teenager. Quata Patton was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a skilled seamstress and quilter, creating memorable clothes and quilts for her family. Additionally, she co-founded the Tule Creek Apiary, worked on the family farm and prepared meals for her family and the hired hands. As a drafter, she drew the building plans for many houses in the Tulia area. Quata’s gift of hospitality allowed her home to be a place of laughter and treasured memories, with doors that were always open to family, friends and visitors. She is survived by her husband; Kenneth Patton of Tulia, her son and wife: Kenneth Sherrol and Vicky Patton of Tulia, her daughter and husband: Dianna and Mike Foster of Amarillo, her son and wife: Howard and Genelle Patton of Sunray and her daughter and husband: Perri and Clay Harper of Amarillo. One brother and sister-in-law: Tom and Suzanne Cunningham of Lubbock, one brother-in-law: H. Gordon Patton of Amarillo, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
