Tulia, Texas—Elizabeth Louise McMurtry (Betty) Devin, 87, died Sunday, August 31, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, September 4, 2014 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ernie McGaughey, Rev. Jim Smith and Rev. Karen Young officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the funeral home. Betty was born May 25, 1927 to E. D. and Ollie McMurtry in Tulia. She grew up in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School and Texas Tech University. She was a Resource (Remedial Learning) teacher for many years at Tulia High. She married Delbert Lee Devin on September 1, 1946. She was a member of the Joyce Hill Guild Circle at the First United Methodist Church as well as a longtime member at FUMC. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Delbert Devin, her son: Dr. T Mac Devin, her grandson: Nickless Devin, her granddaughter: Noel Devin and two brothers: Hoyse McMurtry and Merle McMurtry. She is survived by her son: Lee Devin and wife Tracy of Vigo Park, TX, her daughter-in-law: Karla Devin of College Station, TX, her grandchildren: Kaitlyn Whiteley of Austin, TX, Nelson Devin and Neil Devin, both of Tuscaloosa, AL, two sisters-in-law: Pat Devin and Virginia Devin, both of Tulia, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
