Manuel B. Ramirez, Sr., 82, was called to his eternal home on Friday, September 19, 2014. Manuel touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend his celebration of life service at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Abundant Grace Church in the Family Life Chapel of First Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Barrera officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A celebration service will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Monday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Ramirez was born on June 16, 1932 in Edcouch, Texas to Guadalupe & Francisca Ramirez. He married Mary Hernandez on January 13, 1961 in Plainview. He worked for Maggard-Nall Motors, Buick/Oldsmobile and Gardner Chevrolet. Mr. Ramirez opened Ramirez Auto Sales in 1978 and owned and operated it until his retirement in 2002. He was a radio announcer for KVOP, member of the HUD Committee, the Selective Service Committee, and Abundant Grace Church. Mr. Ramirez is survived by his wife: Mary Ramirez of Plainview; two daughters: Frances Barrera & husband Joe of Plainview and Edna Garcia & husband Ricardo of Plainview; three sons: Manuel Ramirez, Jr. & wife Enedina of Lubbock, Guadalupe “Wally” Ramirez of Lubbock and Joe Manuel Nevares of Plainview; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
