J.D. McGavock (Plainview)

J.D. McGavock, 96, of Silverton passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 24, 2014 in the Church of Christ in Silverton with Mr. Lupe Naceanceno officiating. Burial will follow in the Silverton Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. J.D. was born on January 5, 1918 in Silverton, Texas to Doc and Nettie McGavock. He grew up in Silverton and farmed in Briscoe County for over 75 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved farming and he loved horses. J.D. was preceded in death by his wife, Daphne McGavock; son, Champ Clark McGavock; a grandson, Trevor McGavock; his parents, and 9 siblings. He is survived by his son John McGavock of Plainview; five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Silverton Cemetery Association.
