Tulia, Texas— Laura Inetha Collier Combest, 94, died September 25, 2014 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, September 29, 2014 in the Central Church of Christ with Trey Morgan and Bruce Baird officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. She was born in Alba, Wood County Texas. She moved with her family when she was 7 years old to Donley County. She graduated from Clarendon High School in 1938 and married Fred Combest September 3, 1938. In 1942 Fred went into U.S. Air Force where he served in World War II. Mrs. Combest became a Star Route mail carrier, delivering mail between Clarendon and Pampa, Texas for the duration of WWII. In 1949 they moved to Tulia, Texas and farmed for 36 years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991. She was a member of the Church of Christ where she taught bible classes for several years and was also active in the RSVP program in Swisher County for 30 years. She is survived by one son: Richard Combest and wife Debbie of Tulia, three grandchildren: Callie Walterscheid and husband Jason of Panhandle, Chance Combest and wife Gina of Garland, Caroline Barthelemy and husband Stephen of Tulia, five great grandchildren: Bailey, Rush, Sawyer, Shiloh and Cale. Memorials may be made to the Central Church of Christ, 300 N Donley Ave, Tulia, TX.
