Sam White (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Sam White, 42, passed away on September 29, 2008 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Tulia with Rev. James Hassell officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Sam was born on March 3, 1966 in Plainview to George and LaCreica White. He grew up in Petersburg and graduated from Petersburg High School in 1984. He then attended Western Texas in Snyder. He farmed for several years in the Petersburg area. He married Pam Burns on January 3, 1987 in Petersburg. They moved to Cotton Center in 1989 before moving to Tulia in 1993. He worked for Wrangler Feed Yard, B & R Thriftway, and then at the Prison for 3 ½ years. He went through the Police Academy at Amarillo College. He served as a reserve police officer in Tulia before being hired full-time. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, attended the Adult 5 Sunday school class, and he was a member of the Tulia Booster Club. Survivors include his wife Pam White of Tulia; a daughter, Sarah White of Tulia; two sons, Malcolm White and Hayden White of Tulia; one brother, Tom White and wife Julie of Plainview; a sister, Marsha Koren White of Lubbock; his mother and step-father, LaCreica and Glenn Schumacher; grandmother, Bertha Denis of Tomball; six nieces and three nephews, and many other extended family members. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Condolences may be sent to www.kornerstonefunerals.com.
