Charles Francis (Plainview)

Charles Francis, 93, of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Dr. Tim Marrow officiating and nephew Barry Francis assisting. Burial will follow in the Silverton Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6 - 8 P.M. on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the funeral home. Charles was born on February 15, 1921 in Briscoe County to Louis W. and Allena Jewel Francis. He grew up in Silverton and attended schools there. He loved playing sports and was quite the athlete. He was engaged in farming in Silverton after high school and continued most of his life even after moving to Plainview in 1960. He was also a master carpenter and could build anything. He had a passion for wood working and also a passion for people and storytelling. Charles enjoyed life to the fullest and will be missed by his family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plainview. He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Hollie Francis, Allena May, Ruth West, Margaret Frizelle, and Irvin Francis. Charles is survived by his wife, Anna Francis of Plainview; one daughter, Sharla Francis Cox and husband Tony of Lubbock; one son, Garry David Francis and wife Donna of Canadian; two brothers, Alvie Francis and wife Glenda of Silverton, John Francis and wife Maebelle of Silverton; three grandchildren, Kimberly Boyd and husband Ted of San Angelo, Lori Carr and husband Chad of Amarillo, Jana Speck and husband Michael of Kerrville; and six great-grandchildren, Harrison, Hayden, Tyler, Kaeden, Brayden, and John James. Memorials may be made to the Silverton Cemetery Association or the First Baptist Church in Plainview.
