Joyce Slack (Plainview)

Joyce Slack, 81, of Plainview, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, October 20, 2014 at Kornerstone Funeral Chapel with Dr. Tim Marrow officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 P.M. that afternoon at Red Mud Cemetery in Spur, TX. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Joyce was born on November 4, 1932 to Russell & Ava Johnson in Dickens County. She graduated from Spur High School and attended West Texas A&M. She married Bobby Slack on December 25, 1951 in her parent’s home in Dickens, TX. She was a devoted wife for 62 years. She loved being outdoors and was always on the go. Joyce was an avid bowler for over 30 years. She competed on a national level and was a member of the United States Bowling Congress. She worked for Woods & Davenport Insurance Agency for many years later changing to Jim Posey Insurance Agency. Joyce was a member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Bobby of Plainview; two sons, Michael Wayne Slack & wife Shelly, and Robert Mark Slack & wife Melissa both of Plainview, TX; and three grandchildren, Brent Michael Slack of Lamesa, TX, Darin Thomas Slack of Plainview, TX and Kyla Renee Slack of Plainview, TX.
