Simon Martinez,Jr. (Tulia)

Simon Martinez, 69, died on Friday, January 6, 2006 in Amarillo. Rosary services were held at 7:00pm Monday in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2006 in the church of the Holy Spirit with Father Tony Neusch pastor officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. Martinez was born May 23, 1936 in Brackettville, Texas. He grew up in Hart and attended schools there. He worked as a mill operator in Tulia then for jimmy Cluck Cattle Co. in Dimmitt for several years and he moved back to Tulia and worked for Swisher County. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Survivors include his wife; Basilia Martinez of Tulia, Texas, one son; Daniel Martinez of Tulia, Texas, three daughters; Simona M. Sifuentes of Amarillo, Texas, Sally Garza of Avon Park, Florida and Sandy Martinez of Tulia, Texas, three brothers; Joe K. Martinez of Pampa, Texas, Juan H. Martinez of Hart, Texas, Lupe H. Martinez of Pampa, Texas, two sisters; Lucia Hernandez of Pampa, Texas and Sara Belia Martinez of Pampa, Texas, 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter; Cristy Belle Cisneros.
