Halva Lee Chennault passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at her residence in Peoria, Arizona after 95 plus wonderful years. She died as she had lived, in her own appointed time, in her own way and by her own choice. Mrs. Chennault was born on February 26, 1913 in Wolfe City, Texas to James Harrison and Buelah Beatrice Roberts Boyd. She married Guy Chennault on June 24, 1933. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Chennault lived portions of her life in the Dallas region, in and around Vernon, Plainview and the Phoenix metro area. “Ma”, as she was affectionately called by all of her close family, lived with great zest and an appropriate approach for all events of her life’s journey. She was tenacious and steadfast during adverse times such as the “Great Depression”, “The Dust Bowl Days” and World War II. When her children required discipline she was stern, though only from compassion. Most of all, the woman of small stature and magnificent heart was loving and loved. She is survived by two daughters: Dorothy Westbrook and husband Charlie of Sun City, Arizona and Sue Jones and husband Bennie of Peoria, Arizona; two sons: Guy Herman Chennault of Peoria, Arizona and Randy Chennault and wife Nancy of Peoria, Arizona; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, son Jimmie Chennault, grandson Guy Floyd Chennault, granddaughter Tami Daniel and great grandson Chris Fincher. Again, we love you “Ma”. We will all miss you deeply until being rejoined in the far better place you now reside. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 27, 2008 at Seth Ward Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, October 26, 2008 from 3-5 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
