Tulia, Texas— Dorothy Timmons, 62, formerly of Tulia died Saturday, January 14, 2006 in Dallas, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 23, 2006 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Davenport, retired Baptist minister officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Dorothy was born December 31, 1943 in Tulia, the daughter of Van and Erlene Barbour. She attended Tulia schools, graduating from Tulia High School in 1962 and Draughn’s Business Colloge of Amarillo in 1963. She married Pat Timmons on December 13, 1963. She spent many years in public services; first as secretary to the City Manager of Tulia from 1967 to 1970. She then moved to Coppell, Texas where she was City Secretary for the City of Coppell from 1972 to 1974. In 1974 Dorothy moved to Edinburg, TX where she worked for the Association of City-County Economic Development of Hidalgo County, Texas. She then returned to Coppell, again serving as City Secretary from 1977 to 1998. Dorothy was nominated to the Who’s who of American Women in 1975 and 1976. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Walker Timmons in 1968, and her father, Van Earl Barbour in 1987. She is survived by her sons, Gregory Blake Timmons of Ft. Worth, and Patrick Noble Timmons of Lockhart, Texas; her grandchildren, Patrick, Brittany, Christopher, Clyde, Quincy, and Mattea. Other survivors include her mother, Erlene Barbour of Tulia, her sisters, Jean Richards of Decatur, Jimmie Estes of Silverton, Kathy Lust of Lubbock; and her brothers, Ed Barbour of Sunray, and Steve Barbour of Haskell and a sister-in-law, Loretta Keisling of Dumas, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to favorite charities in lieu of flowers.
