Joyce Jeanette Walker, 72, of Kress passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 12, 2014 at Claytonville Baptist Church in Claytonville, Texas with Rev. Kerry Drake and wife Linda officiating. Burial will follow at Kress Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Joyce was born September 28, 1942 in Plainview, Texas to J.C and Jeffie Lee Turner. She attended Plainview High School and married James Lewis April 25, 1963 in Plainview, Texas. They moved to Claytonville, Texas where they farmed and registered Angus Cattle. Joyce went back to school to get her RN License and worked for nursing homes and retired from Swisher Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Hi-Plains Gem and Mineral Society in Plainview, and was a 4-H adult leader for several years. She enjoyed fishing and gardening and working in her flower beds. She also did Silver Smithing through Wayland Baptist University. Joyce was a member of the Claytonville Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Dr. Rossi, the nurses and staff of Swisher Memorial Hospital for the special care they provided. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, J.C Turner and her daughter Janna Walker. Her family includes her husband, James Lewis Walker of Kress, Texas; one daughter, Lynett Walker of Tulia, Texas; one son, Judson Walker & wife Mary of Kress, Texas; her mother, Jeffie Lee Turner; one brother, Jerry Turner of Sequim, Washington; two grandchildren; Tizzy Walker and James Walker both of Kress, Texas.
